Various mushrooms that we can find in nature can be a delicious source of food, and autumn is a season particularly rich in mushrooms. Mushroom hunting is a relaxing activity, but it can become dangerous if you do not know the mushrooms and cannot distinguish the poisonous ones from the edible ones. Keep in mind, however, that even specialists have a hard time making this distinction sometimes, because of the similarities between them.

Depending on the type of mushrooms ingested, signs of poisoning may appear after 15 minutes or after 12 hours. These can include: nausea, vomiting, intestinal disorders, drop in blood pressure, hallucinations, nervous disorders, excessive salivation, lacrimation, shrinking of the pupil, abdominal pain, decreased pulse, sweating. However, there are also more serious cases, which can cause hepato-renal failure, coma and even death.

In addition to in-depth knowledge about the appearance of mushrooms, there are certain tests with the help of which you can identify poisonous ones.

One of these is to put a silver spoon in the food you want to make from the mushrooms you have picked from the nature. If they are poisonous, then the spoon will turn black.

Another test you can do is to boil the mushrooms together with an onion cut in two. If they are poisonous, the onion will turn blue or black.

Last but not least, using parsley in food can give you a valuable clue: it will turn yellow, if the mushrooms are not good to eat.
