Along with Penis Envy mushrooms, the Golden Teacher mushroom strain is arguably the most well-known and prevalent. This is due to the fact that they have been around for a long time and were one of the first magic mushroom strains to achieve prominence in the field of mycology. The golden tint of the mushroom caps when ripe gives this psilocybin spore strain its name. The long, twisting stems and large golden crowns identify Golden Teacher mushrooms. Golden Teacher mushrooms and their spores are among the most valuable psilocybe cubensis magic mushrooms ever discovered. Some have noted that the Golden Teacher strain has a very unique hallucinogenic property as well.

The Discovery of Golden Teacher Mushrooms

According to legend, these psilocybin mushrooms were initially discovered on a farm in Georgia, growing on a mound of manure and straw as its mushroom substrate. Others claim it formerly flourished wild in the Gulf of Mexico region of the United States. Golden Teacher, often known as GT shrooms, was first found in the 1980s and has been a popular option for many since then. Its actual origin is obscure and unconfirmed, but its exquisite design makes it instantly identifiable.

The Growth Characteristics of the Golden Teacher Mushroom

Golden Teacher psilocybe cubensis mushrooms have convex to widely convex to flat crowns that are around 50mm in diameter when mature. It is normally reddish cinnamon brown in hue, becoming golden brown to pale yellow as it ages. The mushroom’s surface is dry, with noticeable and persistent global veil remains on the crown. The skin is white and bruises to a blue green color soon. This strain’s stems are roughly 125mm long and yellowish in color. Where the flesh was wounded, it bruised and turned a blue green color as well. In immature fruit bodies, the gills of this strain are gray, but as they mature, they turn virtually black.
